Project suggestions for CS 4033/5033 Fall 2012

DARPA Grand Challenge on Humanoid Robots

• DARPA has released a new grand challenge on humanoid robotics, which is described here and here. OU will be enterining the simulator competition and there will be a class focusing on this in Spring 2013. If you are interested in the Spring class and participating in the challenge, you will need to focus on the same simulator and type of robot. You should choose a much smaller task, such vision or grasping or navigating.
• The simulator you will want to use is ROS/Gazebo with the PR2 and turtlebot modules installed.

Spacewar 2

• Students in AI are familiar with spacewar, an open-source java-based game that was inspired by the classic game of Asteroids. We have a new implementation where your goal is to mine asteroids. A demo will be shown in the first day of class and I would welcome a few students who want to use this environment for learning projects and to help test the software.
